Escravos da Mauá - 2007 Réveillon Party
This is a very special party. It happens in the first Friday of the year in an open air square in the old city region downtown, close the Rio de Janeiro habour. This place is considered the birthplace of the Samba. The party itself has a lot of analogies with the traditional one: white dressing, indoor fireworks, champagne, not the french drink but a brazilian guarana drink which has the same name and lots of midnight kisses. You find also popular street food of Rio de Janeiro such as: spits, large-sized sausage, cheese and meat pastries, etc prepared by the people who lives nearby. All these at the sound of most popular sambas played by the "O Fabuloso Grupo Eu Canto Samba" (The Fabulous Group I Sing Samba), the Escravos da Maua (Maua Slaves) street block samba band. See the event pictures and videos at our site.
